Downtown Winnipeg staple Nathan Detroit’s Sandwich Pad is closing its doors. Established in 1979, the family business began as a small 70-seat sandwich shop which eventually transformed into a 150-seat full-service restaurant and catering operation. Their location in the Richardson Building Concourse always had a family feel, and you knew you were always welcome when the aroma pulled you in. The Nathan Detroit’s Sandwich Pad Legacy Fund has been established to remember their deep connections to our community. The fund is open for gifts from anyone looking to honour the restaurant, celebrate the people or share messages and stories.
Gifts to the fund will be held until the Yamron family determines whether the fund will be endowed at The Winnipeg Foundation to offer permanent community support or flow directly to organizations in our community.
