Jim Carr Foundation Fund - In memory of Jim Carr

This fund was initiated by Jim Carr, P.C.,O.M. and his family to continue his passion for music, by advancing opportunities for youth. Gifts to this fund shall be pooled and invested with the generated income allocated to music education and outreach programs, focusing on classical music education in schools or community settings. Jim’s family will be actively involved in the Jim Carr Foundation Fund.

Jim Carr is remembered as a distinguished and respected parliamentarian, journalist and community advocate. Jim brought honour to public service. He was a proud Winnipegger, Manitoban and Canadian.

During his time in Ottawa, Carr served as Minister of Natural Resources and Minister of International Trade Diversification in the government of Justin Trudeau. Although he stepped down from his ministerial roles after his cancer diagnosis in 2019, Carr was named as the Prime Minister’s Special Representative to the Prairies, and returned to cabinet as a Minister without Portfolio in 2021.
