Stress is one of the main factors inhibiting learning in the classroom and detracting from the happiness in children’s lives. The complexity of life, pressures of academic and social interaction keep increasing – especially with the constant bombardment of social media and technology. When do children’s brains and bodies have a moment to retreat to peace? When are they able to shut off the outside world and experience quiet, calm and simplicity? For most, it’s not too often.
The Quiet Time Program trains children and adults to tune out the outer world and get in touch with the calm and peaceful place within - as well as with their own innate talents. The program provides meditation taught by professionals for two 10-15-minute periods each day. The program has been scientifically shown to benefit students in areas of mental health and performance. For the past ten years, it has been in place in hundreds of schools across the world but requires funding for implementation here in Winnipeg. The Youth of Winnipeg Quiet Time Fund provides funding for the Quiet Time Program for children in Manitoba.
Your gift will be pooled and invested with the generated income distributed as grants to local registered charities. As the original gift remains invested, your contribution will continue to benefit the people of Winnipeg in perpetuity.
