Indigenous Research Support Fund

This fund was established to help students pursuing a degree in Indigenous Studies (University of Manitoba) or Indigenous Governance (University of Winnipeg).

Degrees in Indigenous Studies or Governance often require a thesis/practicum and course work founded on Indigenous community-based research that generates Indigenous histories and insights into Canada’s past. Students completing a degree through Indigenous community-based research face some direct or additional costs such as traveling to rural and remote communities, engaging in land-based learning, and paying honorariums, tobacco/gifts to knowledge holders and keepers including Indigenous youth, elders, and community members.

This fund will provide extra resources to help support the methods, technologies, and reciprocity required for students to complete their degree through Indigenous community-based research.

All gifts to this fund will be pooled and invested with the generated income distributed to qualifying students at the University of Manitoba or University of Winnipeg. As the original gift remains invested, your contribution will continue to benefit our community in perpetuity.
