Drew Murray charmed and captivated everyone he met with a flash of his 10,000-watt smile. It was his trademark and a testament to his spirit.
Drew was born with a never-diagnosed condition that affected his body, but never his mind. As his condition progressed, he lost most of his physical capabilities. Drew needed help negotiating his physical challenges and was truly blessed by the people who came into his life to fill this role including the team at the Movement Center of Manitoba.
His brother, MacKenzie, joined the Movement Centre board in 2018 to honour his brother's legacy. While attending one of the Centre's fundraisers, Mac was approached by a client of the centre. After sharing his last name, he was met with, "You're Drew's brother, right? He was such an incredible guy". It was a reminder that even 20 years later, Drew has had a lasting impact, not only at the Centre but all those around him.
Despite Drew’s physical limitations, he never lost his joy for life, quick wit, and oh, that smile. As his big brother Jonathon often said, "He is the bravest person I know.”
The Drew Murray Foundation was created as a way to honour Drew's legacy and to support the centre so that kids and adults like him can live fulfilling and independent lives
