Heritage - La Societe Historique de Saint-Boniface Fund

La Societe Historique de Saint-Boniface (SHSB) has partnered with Francofonds Inc. to established this permanently endowed Manitoba Heritage Trust Fund to support their work.

The Manitoba government established the Manitoba Heritage Trust Endowment (MHTE) Fund to stretch gifts to Heritage Trust Funds. Each gift has the potential to be stretched by up to 50 per cent.

Dedicated to the dissemination and preservation of Western Canada’s French and Métis heritage, the SHSB is the oldest Francophone historical society in Western Canada. It has sponsored archeological and historical research, and it has maintained a collection of museum objects including the first artefacts found at the North-West Angle. In 1998, it officially opened the Centre du patrimoine, an archives facility and library dedicated to the history of Francophones and Métis in Manitoba as well as in the West.

The Winnipeg Foundation will generate the tax receipts for all gift directed to this fund under the Manitoba Heritage Trust Program. Gifts to this fund are invested in perpetuity and the annual income generated for grantmaking is distributed to La Societe Historique de Saint-Boniface to be used at their discretion.
